| Flex Power Tools was created in 1922 in Germany and their amazing tools are now available in the United States. We are very proud to offer you the next generation of orbital buffers with the Flex XC 3401 VRG. Orbital buffers are much safer than rotary buffers because they generate less heat, which can also limit their cutting power compared to rotary buffers. Flex has done an outstanding job combining the best of both worlds, with a significantly more powerful orbital buffer that still minimizes the risk of burning your paint. Use the Flex XC 3401 VRG buffer to delicately apply your favorite synthetic wax or effectively break down a compound or polish. The ultra smooth power allows you to buff out swirls and fine scratches, so you can restore a transparent clear coat. The Flex XC3401 VRG and Porter Cable 7424 have some similarities and differences that are outlined below. Both buffers move in a random orbit or oscillating motion, designed to replicate a hand buffing motion. They are both approximately 5.75lbs so they are relatively light and easy to use. The Flex buffer comes with a built in 5.5” hook & loop backing plate. Both buffers are typically used with 6.5 inch pads while they can use most pads over 6 inches. So if you already own a Porter Cable 7424 your pads will be compatible with the Flex buffer.
The Flex has a speed dial which sets the maximum speed you can reach with the variable speed trigger. Hold the trigger down lightly and it will operate at low OPMs and squeeze it tightly to reach the maximum OPMs relative to what speed you have the dial on. If you want the buffer to operate at the maximum OPMs, relative to what you set the speed dial to, you can lock in the trigger so you don’t have to continuously hold it. The Flex XC 3401 VRG has over 60% more power than the Porter Cable 7424 (9,600 OPMs vs. 6,000 OPMs). This allows for more cutting power to remove deeper imperfections. The handle that is on the front of the Flex, which can be removed, is positioned directly over the buffer as opposed to on the side. This allows for more even distribution of pressure and really helps you work in the polish and get optimal results.
